Did this headline get your attention? How would you like to make money doing something you love to do?
I've always had at least two jobs, once even three! Bodybuilding was absolutely necessary to keep my body in shape so I could work multiple jobs.
Training gives us an outlet for suppressed energies created by stress and thus tones the spirit just as exercise conditions the body.
My main fulltime job is a technical writer. You know those manuals you get with your new car, or the new TV you just bought? The manuals you maybe look at once, then hardly look at ever again? I create those for industrial cranes. Boring.
I've held quite a few part time jobs. One of my passions is photography. I've photographed weddings, taken animal and people portraits, and worked as a high school sports photographer for a major newspaper.
Being a high school sports photographer was the best. The assignments paid really well, $130 for each assignment (in 1992 dollars), and sometimes I worked two assignments a day. At the time I just had my first child, so this extra cash bought many a diaper.
One day I was assigned to shoot a soccer game. I needed an action shot which I shot fairly quickly into the game. This was my second assignment that day, and I was feeling poorly (flu), so I sat down to rest a minute during a timeout.
During the stop in the action, one of the players (a fifteen year old kid) collapsed on the field. The paramedic on site rushed over to help. The kid was convulsing uncontrollably. I jumped to my feet, raised the camera to my eye, ready to snap the photo of this scene.
Then I thought what if it was my child? Would I want a photo of him in obvious pain on the front page of the sport section? I lowered my camera (mistake) and watched as more paramedics joined in.
This all happened around 5:30 pm. The player was taken away in an ambulance and the game continued. I drove back to the newspaper, developed my film (no digital cameras yet) and gave the editor an action shot of two players fighting for the soccer ball. He was happy and I left for home.
About midnight I received a call from the editor. The kid who collapsed died. Apparently he had a heart defect. The editor wanted to know if I had photographed the kid with the paramedics. I told him I did not. I was fired on the spot. You see, bad news is good news in the media's eyes, and because I have morals and probably did the right thing I was punished for it.
This experience left a bitter taste in my mouth, so I sought other ways to make money with my camera.
A coworker turned me on to eBay. Product photography was easy and this type of photography was a good fit with eBay. I started selling everything that wasn’t nailed down. I went to garages sales, auctions, flea markets, anywhere I could buy something for less than the going rate on eBay.
All this running around looking for products to sell was very time consuming. I needed a reliable source of products to consistently sell. I eventually found a wholesale source for guitars. My last year selling guitars I sold $53,000 worth on eBay. After paying my supplier, eBay and PayPal fees, I ended up making about $7000. This wasn’t a bad part time job, but then eBay raised seller’s fees, and naturally PayPal fees went up as well. Then my wholesale guitar supplier raised their prices. The final straw came when eBay declared sellers could no longer leave negative feedback for buyers!
I only occasionally sell on eBay now. I needed to find a source of income where I was more in control of my own fate. Throughout all of these part time jobs I managed to keep lifting weights. I really wanted to find a way to make money in the exercise field, but what were my options?
What kind of a niche website can you build related to bodybuilding? There are plenty of choices for small, niche websites related to bodybuilding such as: get-big-arms.com, increase-your-bench-press.com, squat-till-you-puke.com, etc. You are reading this article on a bodybuilding related website. I chose to focus on the home gym bodybuilder, but almost any topic can make money with a website.
I did many hours of research on the best way to begin this website. The main thing you need to focus on is giving you reader quality content. Like the old saying realtors have of location, location, and location, web sites need to concentrate on content, content, and content.
All of my research pointed to one website: SBI. Every product I review on this site I've tried myself and SBI is no exception. This website you are reading was built using the SBI process.
SiteSell.com was established by Dr. Ken Evoy in 1997. His series of books have helped hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs and small businesses. Make Your Content PREsell! and Make Your Words Sell!, formerly books sold by SiteSell, are now free. They are literally the dynamic duo of "Web-writing."
SBI! makes online business success do-able. Anyone can succeed with an all-in-one process, tools, and guidance.
You get more than just a "site builder." You don't need to worry about looking for separate hosting, paying for a separate keyword research tool, handling site submissions, integrating autoresponders, etc., etc. See the full list of features here
SBI! removes the technical barriers allowing you to keep your attention on building your business. Many functions are completely automated. You don't need to know anything upfront about building a Web site in order to succeed. The tedious, "under-the-hood" stuff is handled automatically so you can focus on other important business-building activities.
SBI! is the only product that takes the time to prepare you to build a profitable business, before you jump into building your site. For the beginner, your learning curve will be shorter and you'll bypass any show-stopping errors. For those experienced in site-building, SBI! deepens your level of understanding. No matter who you are, you are guided all the way until you succeed.
The Action Guide presents a step-by-step process, presented in both written and video formats. All you have to do is follow it. Really! The most successful SBI! owners say "all they did was follow the Guide." They don't get sidetracked, or have to guess at what to do next. SBI!'s guided approach helps you reach your goals.
SBI! comes with unlimited Customer Support. SBI! owners often call it the best they've ever experienced. And the SBI! Forums complete the picture. They are the most friendly, help-and-be-helped set of e-business forums in the world.
Choosing your best site concept is not always as obvious as you might think. Brainstorm It! and Niche Choose It! show you the best path for your particular business, reveal some surprises, and help you make the right choice.
Too many non-SBI! sites start without profits being "built into" the process from DAY 1. It all begins with the right process. Content Traffic PREsell Monetize is the underlying, logical and powerful process that capitalizes upon the fundamental realities of how people use the Web. C T P M puts you on a solid, profitable business foundation.
Page creation is as simple as riding a bike with its training wheels still attached. No need to know HTML. The block-by-block builder trains you how to write a page that is both "Search Engine and human effective." It's simple, do-able and most importantly, effective site-building. The block-by-block builder is perfect for beginners, but even many "advanced" users should start with this tool. It's an excellent way to break bad habits!
Since SBI! is compatible with popular HTML editors (ex., Dreamweaver) and image tools (ex., Photoshop, Flash, etc.), you can easily use advanced page-building techniques, if you like. This allows for maximum creative flexibility for all skill levels.
To announce your site to Search Engines, you need to submit a specialized file called a "Sitemap XML" file. SBI! does it all automatically, a huge time saver, that enables you to quickly achieve wider distribution and attract more targeted free traffic.
Search Engine spider/listing/ranking reports let you see how your pages are being handled by the Search Engines. You can see what pages rank best and drive traffic. Each report's insights help you to determine how to increase traffic and monetization. Most pros don't have easy and reliable access to this type of information.
PREselling is a concept "invented" by SiteSell, part of the C T P M process. The concept is simple. As small business people, you do not have a brand name that is known and trusted. So you have to build that before you can monetize. Seems obvious, right? So few people do it, or they don't do it right, online.
SBI! includes an easy-to-use form builder with autoresponders. You can build contact forms, surveys, and polls to easily communicate with your visitors. You don't need to use your e-mail address, which attracts spam. Experienced users will appreciate no longer needing separate form-building tools. Having these tools all in one place saves time and expense, too.
List-building and e-mail marketing are included (usually these expensive features are bought separately). Sign up visitors to your e-zine subscription list and then mail an issue to them. This repeat exposure builds a stronger bond with your visitors and allows for direct promotions to them. Deeper PREselling = More Monetization.
New tools are added continuously so you can feel secure that you'll always have the most up-to-date site-building and marketing tools.
Infin It! enables you to plug third party resources into your SBI! site. You can add forums, shopping carts, data feeds, blogs and other server-side functionality. Infin It! brings you an SBI! site with no limits.
On most pages on this website I have Ads by Goooogle. Every time someone is interested and clicks on one I make money. There are countless other ways to make money with a website: create your own eBooks to sell, sell other people's products for a commission, and get paid for leads and referrals. Solo Build It shows you how to do all this.
There's soooo much information on the Solo Build It website, but you will be guided through the whole process. Just take your time, like the tortoise.
The tortoise approach symbolizes Solo Build It!'s steady-and-sure approach. It's definitely not GRQ (GetRichQuick) and keeps you from getting distracted by false promises or dead-end tools and strategies that end up costing more money. Experienced users will appreciate avoiding time-wasters that don't help you succeed. Think of it as a simple, direct, hype-free path that leads to success.
Anybody who's willing to learn and work hard can do this. A website is something that requires a lot of work up front and pays off big time later.
And, Solo Build It! has a no-risk, 30-day money back guarantee. It's a risk-free decision that you can make with confidence and peace of mind.
Like Nike says: Just do it.
Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.
